Meadgate Nursery
Chelmsford, Essex
Small world play
The nursery provides a welcoming atmosphere with approachable staff where parents and carers feel valued and can get involved in their child's learning. Parents are regularly invited to attend open days and special events such as sports day and dads week.
The nursery employs six staff of whom all hold appropriate early years qualifications. The staff ensure the children thoroughly enjoy their time at the nursery and make good progress within their learning and development through staff recognising the uniqueness of each child and responding to their individual needs and encouraging them to be active learners, to be creative and think critically.
The staff are positive role models and encourage the children to share, to take turns and have respect as well as ensuring they regularly praise the children encouraging their individual achievements.
Children's individual key workers have a strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage which enables them to plan purposeful play and make learning fun and exciting.
Children have access to a secure private garden with lots of outdoor space which enables them to experiment and explore in all weathers.
The setting enables children to make healthy choices about what they would like to eat and drink as well as encourage good hygiene practices such as washing hands before eating or after playing outside.
The nursery helps to develop the children's understanding of the wider world, effective collaborative skills in literacy, problem solving, numeracy and information and technology through its well resourced environment.
The nursery has in place a speech and language program in which the staff support all of the children's speaking and listening skills as well as ensuring individual support is in place for children who have English as an additional language and for children who have speech and language difficulties.
