Narnia Day Nursery and Nursery School is a family run business with our main aim being to provide a happy, stimulating and loving 'family home' together with a healthy, comfortable and safe environment where parents feel secure in the knowledge that there child is cared for as an individual.

Narnia prides itself with having dedicated loving and qualified staff including the manager who has achieved Early Years Professional Status and a qualified teacher. We are able to accommodate 36 children (separated into groups of babies, toddlers and pre-school children).

As a registered Nursery Education Provider we are Ofsted inspected and are members of the National Day Nurseries Association NDNA. We have been awarded Quality Counts, the investors in children endorsed accreditation scheme by NDNA. This acts as an indicator to parents of independent assessment of quality, over and above the National Standards from Ofsted.

Meals are planned to provide a varied and nutritious diet according to seasonal variations. In consultation with parents we cater for any special dietary needs. Meals are freshly cooked on the premises, with fresh fruit and vegetables purchased regularly. We have achieved a Healthy Eating Award. The children eat as a family unit in a separate dining room.

Children learn through play and at 'Narnia' we provide a structure which encourages children to achieve their individual potential. Planning for learning is built upon as the child moves through the nursery, all planning being available for parents to see. Staff focus on the Early Years Foundation Stage for all ages to plan activities around themes e.g. 'Winter', 'Homes', 'Myself, and includes craftwork, water and sand play, music and movement, singing and rhymes etc. Activities are flexible to allow for the children to instigate their own learning around points of interest. Any one
activity would normally integrate several areas of learning. Indoor and outdoor activities are appropriate to the child's age and stage of development.

All children whatever their age have the opportunity to choose from accessible resources within the rooms, encouraging them to build their own skills and interests. Our main objective throughout is to make a child feel secure and good about itself, as we believe that this is when learning will be at its greatest.

We work alongside a key worker system with each child being allocated a member of staff. This person is primarily responsible for working closely with the family and the development of the child.

All children are given as much individual attention as possible. We work in close partnership with all our parents, giving feedback on a daily basis. This partnership is no greater than in the baby room where we ensure that they follow their home routine throughout their time at nursery.

The toddler room and pre-school room provide a wider mixture of play
activities whilst beginning to offer a more structured day. A qualified teacher is present to prepare the 3+ age group for primary school.
