Early Birds is situated in a spacious, detached house which is full of charm and homely character.

We place emphasis on learning through play in a homely atmosphere where children can develop a positive and confident attitude towards learning.

With the support of our highly devoted and experienced team, your child will receive all the stimulation they need to enhance growth in their physical, intellectual, emotional and social areas of development following the Early Years Foundation Stage.

We place emphasis on learning through play and at Early Birds we give children the chance to discover things for themselves, in their own time and at their own speed, so that children can develop a positive and confident attitude towards learning.

The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum enables our fully qualified and experienced team to stimulate and enhance each child's individual needs and development throughout their time at nursery.

Our purpose designed baby unit for our Chicks aged 0-18 months, has a calm, secure and loving atmosphere where babies can explore, engage in physical play, snuggle in our comfy corner and develop their imagination.

Ducklings, aged 18 months to 2 years have the opportunity to develop their skills in the downstairs of the house.

Days are planned to give balance and provide opportunities to participate in sensory and stimulating activities.

Robins, aged 2-3 years engage in activities such as imaginative play, construction, table top games, music making, sand and water play, encourage new discoveries and cognitive development.

Rest times, as with the Ducklings, ensure children stay happy and get the most out of their time at Early Birds.

Owls, aged 3-5 years use the upstairs of the house, keeping a homely environment.

There are 10 main areas of play including, painting, sand, water, workshop, malleable, mark making, role play, small world, construction and reading which are enhanced daily in line with the children's own interests.

The children's key workers complete an on going 'Learning Journey' throughout their time with us at Early Birds, linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Through photographic evidence, observations and the children's own work, staff are able to follow each child's individual development and develop a wonderful keepsake for parents.

Staff are very carefully selected not only on the basis of their qualifications and experience, but also on their dedication, empathy and hands-on ability with the children and babies.

Claire Botham, owner, has two young children of her own and draws on this experience to offer the very best in childcare.

All food is freshly prepared on the premises and we take great pride in offering highly nutritious and tasty meals.

In June 2008 we were awarded the 'Recipe for Health' Award by Chorley Borough Council in recognition of the high standard of meals we produce.

During spring and summer, weekly swimming lessons are offered to our pre-school group.

We have exclusive use of a local pool with a fully qualified swimming instructor.

Children become confident in the water whilst having fun with their friends.
