Settling in visits
All children are unique and the amount of time that a child takes to settle into our Nursery can vary enormously. Children will be given time to settle in at their own pace, ensuring they feel welcome, safe and confident.
We encourage parents to help during this time.
Key Workers
Each child is allocated a key worker who will be responsible for monitoring the child's progress and keeping records about each child in their care. Parents can view their child's records at any time and we welcome their input. The key worker is also the first point of contact for parents and daily updates can be made to meet the needs of each individual child.
Daily Diary
Each child receives a daily diary which provides communication between home and nursery. In the diary we write information on how well your child's day has gone, what activities they have been involved in, what they have eaten and information on nappy changes and so on.
Sleeping
We follow the Department of Health's guidelines on sleep and take account of individual wishes. Our policy on sleeping can be viewed within the Parent Information area of our web site.
Meals/Snacks
Parents of babies 3 months-1 year old are asked to provide all meals and snacks. Fresh food will need to be provided daily and formula milk bottles must be supplied ready made each day in labelled containers and bottles.
We believe in giving our children a good start with healthy food available. We have fresh hot food daily, prepared by a specialist catering company to ensure that all children are receiving a total balanced diet. Visit our website to view current menus that our children are thoroughly enjoying.
Personal, social and emotional development
Knowing the difference between right and wrong, sharing, being able to dress and undress, taking an interest in others and in a variety of activities, and having the self-confidence to try new things.
Communication, language and literacy
Talking clearly and confidently, listening to stories, poems and songs, naming and sounding the letters of the alphabet, writing their own name and reading some simple common words (and, look, up, I, you, go, etc.)
Mathematical development
Counting, understanding and recognising numbers up to 10, understanding terms like 'greater', 'smaller', 'heavier', 'lighter', being aware of shapes and space, and starting to understand the concepts of adding or taking away.
Knowledge and understanding of the world
Showing an interest in exploring their world, finding out about the past, about different cultures, and about everyday technology and how it is used.
Physical development
Moving about confidently and with reasonable co-ordination.
Creative development - using colours and shapes to make things, telling stories, singing simple songs from memory, making music and dancing.

Early Years Education Entitlement
Tax Credit Scheme
Early Years Education Entitlement
All parents of three and four year-olds are entitled to government money for their child's nursery education. This is known as the Early Years Education Entitlement (EYEE).
What does the EYEE pay for?
It pays for up to five 2.5 hour education sessions a week at any EYEE registered pre-school provider.
The EYEE is funded over three funding periods a year and covers 38 weeks:
Autumn, 1 September - 31 December (14 weeks)
Spring, 1 January - 31 March (11 weeks)
Summer, 1 April - 31 August (13 weeks)
When can my child start to receive the EYEE?
A child is entitled to start receiving the EYEE from the start of the funding period after their 3rd birthday.
So long as your child is enrolled with us at the beginning of the funding period after they turn three you will be able to make your application. This is a short form called a 'Parental Declaration' which we will then send on to the EYEE team for you.
Tax Credit Scheme
You can make a claim for up to 80% of childcare costs under the Tax Credit Scheme. Whilst 9 our of 10 parents with children are entitled to this funding there are limits on the weekly costs you can claim.
The actual amount will depend on your income.
For more information call the Helpline on 0845 300 3900 (text phone 0845 300 3909).
