Gillingham is a large town in Kent, and is home to more than 100,000 people.
The town’s history goes back to the Domesday Book of 1086 which was a small hamlet with a parish church at the time.
Gillingham has always been a maritime town - in 1564 the town was mentioned by William Adams who wrote “two English miles from Rochester and one mile from Chatham, where the King's ships do lie”. Much of Chatham Dockyard, founded by Elizabeth I, was within Gillingham - and it continued to be a major employer in the area until its closure in 1984.
Today, Gillingham Business Park is one of the area’s most popular business parks and is home to many small businesses.
