History of Bracknell
Bracknell is a name that was first recorded as Braccan heal in a Winkfield Boundary Charter of AD 942. Braccan heal meant Nook of land which belonged to a person known as Bracca.
The oldest building in the town is known as Old Manor, while the oldest place of worship is the parish church of St Mary Magdalene and St Michael in Easthampstead.
