Garden matters
Edinburgh, Lothian
big beech fell
Company owner Jonathan Hall worked for six years in forestry (coniferous plantation in the highlands, coppice woodland in Cambridgeshire and estate woodlands in the Scottish borders).
He has now been working in tree surgery for 10 years.
Jonathan has worked with many surgeons through Edinburgh where the standard of tree surgery is very high.
Garden matters has been a great success in the five years it has been trading and in a town the size of Edinburgh, that's down to good reputation.
The client base is mainly private households in conservation areas, but GM also works for many solicitors firms, schools including 'The Edinburgh Academy', garden associations like 'Regent Terrace Gardens', charities like 'capability Scotland' among others.
We are fully insured, fully trained and are experienced enough to quote at the right price.
We also offer mobile milling services as we hate wood going to waste and supply the best cabinet makers in the area like Tom Cooper and several of the craftsmen and women involved in the Botanics Wycheelm project.
At present we are constructing an arboretum in the centre of St. Andrews, including rare ferns and an 8M elm timber bridge over the river, planked and constructed on site.
We are also horticulturists and garden designers which our clients enjoy as they can pick or brains on many matters.
Our current surgeons are Struan Erskine, a formidable surgeon and totally tireless, David Harlan a kiwi, who is diligent and super careful and Matt O'Brein who is has been only climbing for two years but has a very bright future in the industry ahead of him.
