Abbeyfield Winchester Society
Winchester, Hampshire
Orchard Close - both houses
The facility consists of an attractive fully modernised old house, called Cusack House, and a purpose built new house, called Thornton House, set in a very attractive large garden facing a quiet lane.
Both houses provide a high standard of accommodation in bed sitting rooms or two room flats all with en-suite facilities.
We have accommodation for up to 32 residents who are expected to be reasonably mobile but there is no maximum age limit.
The village shop/post office, restaurant, Parish church, hairdressers, surgery, dispensing chemist and bus stops are within walking distance.
There are two members of staff resident on site and all cooking, cleaning and washing is carried out by a team of employed staff.
Extra personal care can be brought in but is not provided by the Society.
The management of the properties and the general well-being of the residents is the responsibility of a board of volunteer trustees.
The Society tries to create a home from home atmosphere in the houses.
Residents are encouraged to take part in the running of the house and garden, to use the facilities to continue their own hobbies and to take part in the many activities and outings that are arranged.
