Your First Visit
Your initial consultation is aimed at establishing the cause of your problems and will include a physical examination and a written case history dealing with your past and current medical history. Whenever possible treatment will be given at your first visit, although x - rays or other investigations may be necessary to help establish a diagnosis for your condition.
Not everyone who presents with back pain has a spinal problem as other conditions can produce or mimic back and neck pain. It is so important to provide the right treatment for your problem and this makes an accurate diagnosis so vital.
Fees
Treatment fees are recoverable from most private health insurance companies dependant upon their rules and your level of cover. Please note that all fees are payable at the time of treatment and it is our policy for you to recover the cost of fees from your insurers direct.
Making appointments
Your initial appointment takes about forty minutes to one hour, and please allow twenty minutes for each subsequent treatment visit.
Mr Kenton is available for consultations and treatment appointments via his secretary who may be contacted on: 01787 479704
Appointments are available from early morning till evening six days a week, and emergency home visits are available.
Clinic sessions take place in 2 sites England covering Essex, Suffolk and Harley Street, London W1 and the Alicante region of Spain
Treatment
Osteopathic treatment is composed of a series of skilled procedures, which are performed to increase the range of joint mobility and thereby reduce the level of pain and discomfort from which you are suffering.
Treatment itself is not painful but it is possible to experience slight reactions of muscular stiffness following certain treatment procedures.
Your treatment session involves individual and undivided attention to you personally.
Advice will be offered regarding your posture, hobbies and how to adapt your work place to suit your problem.
Dietary advice can also be given both for weight loss as well as for health and this plays an important part of the holistic approach of osteopathy alongside relaxation exercises and postural advice.
Who can benefit from osteopathy
Six million people attend osteopaths each year for a variety of conditions ranging from back and neck pain through to joint pain and arthritis. Back pain in pregnancy is a condition often helped by osteopathic treatment as is whiplash, sports injuries and even basic postural problems which may be linked to your job.
Pain of headaches and arthritis can be helped through the skilled manual techniques of osteopathy and also with the use of Laser Treatment as provided by our clinics. These techniques aid in tissue repair following muscular and ligament injury. It can also be of value in reducing swelling in joints, and combined with osteopathic treatment helps to improve movement.
Osteopathy is a widely recognised and well-established form of treatment concerned with the muscular and skeletal systems of the body. Osteopaths do not just treat bad backs but a variety of conditions such as asthma and migraine, which may be related to the spine. Remember also the role of the osteopath with shoulder, arm, hand, hip, foot and knee pain.
Recent government research has shown that osteopathic treatment given promptly speeds up recovery time from a number of injuries.
Look at osteopathic treatment as a means of prevention with regular assessments and skeletal check ups. Many patients derive relief from chronic pain by attending on a regular basis for treatment.
