Blossom Tree Children's Nursery
Edinburgh, Lothian
Blossom Tree Children's Nursery is a place where the most valuable people in your life can learn, play and flourish in a safe and happy environment.
Our overall aim here at Blossom Tree Children's Nursery is to create a sanctuary for children aged 3 months to 5 years.
We recognise the importance of supporting and nurturing each individual child within their early years development.
Based in Gilmerton, on the South side of Edinburgh, Blossom Tree Children's Nursery has been designed to provide a safe, secure and child centred approach to learning and will be open Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm.
Blossom Tree can support the care and learning of 19 children per day, with each key age group having their own area within the Nursery - The Ladybird Room, The Bumblebee Room and The Grasshopper Room.
The Nursery is ideally located across the road from Gilmerton Library and Gilmerton Primary School is only a few minutes walk away.
We recognise that it is crucial to have strong participation links and excellent communication with the child, their family and the dedicated staff within the Nursery, as well as any other supporting agencies.
At the Blossom Tree Children's Nursery, we encourage autonomous play, both within the carefully created nursery rooms, and also within the developing garden environment.
In order to achieve this child centred and supportive learning environment we use key government policy documents such as the Birth to Three Framework, Curriculum for Excellence and Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC).
The Nursery is owned and will be managed by myself, Julie McMorrine.
Over the years I have worked within a number of exciting and challenging childcare and education settings, including as a qualified nursery nurse at The Edinburgh Academy and The Mary Erskine and Stewart's Melville Junior School, pre-school department.
Most recently I have been working within the children's charity ChildLine, an organisation interlinked with Scotland's Children 1st and the NSPCC.
As my knowledge and understanding of childcare, child development, early education and child protection grew, I chose to deepen my academic understandings and returned to studying at Edinburgh University, where I achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in Childhood Practice.
In addition to myself there will be 6 other qualified and part qualified staff supporting the children's learning and development.
