Before this John Gemmell (watchmaker) had a shop in Broughton Street, Edinburgh from 1977-1981.
He then worked from home repairing watches and clocks for around 14 shops in the Lothian area.
Stewart Gemmell(jeweller), John's son, attended College in Glasgow from 1997-2000 studying Jewellery design, manufacture and repair.
In his first and third years won first prize in the Jewellery category in the Trades House of Glasgow show, this involved entries from all the colleges in the Glasgow area over the full range of crafts.

We offer a full repair service all carried out on the premises. This includes watches, clocks and jewellery.
Jewellery valuations for insurance purposes are also carried out in shop.
We can re-model old jewellery. This can be either to your own idea or we can design it for you.
Old broken gold or silver items can be processed and crafted into almost anything you want.
This is a great way to use the metal from items that are of sentimental value but are beyond repair themselves.
If you don't have any old jewellery to use this way there are plenty of items on sale which includes watches, gift items, rings, bangles and most other items you would expect to find in a family jewellers.
We mainly stock gold and silver but also have some fashion style jewellery.
Items can be made for you from scratch, this is very popular as the finished piece is often a one off design.
While we can be quite busy some urgent repairs can be ready for the same day on request for a small charge.
