About Halesowen

Halesowen has a population of more than 50,000 people, and is located 7 miles from Birmingham and 6 miles from Dudley in the West Midlands.

Amazingly, Halesowen’s entry in the Domesday Book of 1086 shows that it was larger than Birmingham at the time!

Historically, Halesowen’s main industry was nail making, which operated as a cottage industry from the homes of individual nail-makers, and later moved to larger factories.

Although the town itself is mainly suburban, with many houses built in the decades following World War II, there’s plenty of green belt land nearby, including the lovely Clent Hills.

Visitors will enjoy the lovely Norman church of St John the Baptist, walking in the Clent Hills with their panoramic views, or a trip to nearby Hagley Hall.
