Me and my car
I used to be a Driver Training instructor with the Royal Military Police and at the Defence Police College. I am highly experienced at taking all levels of pupils to test standard, from those with no previous experience to those nearly ready for test and have run hundreds of intensive courses for the Forces Police services. Many of my pupils went straight on to advanced, evasive and blue light driving courses, others went on to drive 4x4's in combat zones; when you know this, you make sure you give the best training possible and take no chances or short cuts.
Just because I used to teach the forces, it doesn't mean that I shout at pupils - in fact I don't shout at all! Shouting only upsets people which makes learning harder. I promise that I will never shout at you. How many other instructors will say that?
As a member of the Driving Instructors Association (DIA), I fully support their drive to encourage professional, well trained instructors who maintain the highest of standards. I am also in the process of studying for a Diploma in Driving Instruction (DipDi), a university recognised qualification, as I am never happy to just sit back and rely on old training and techniques.
My car, a Kia Picanto, is bright and easy to see, has great all-round vision and is really light and easy to drive. It is dual controlled and fully insured for all pupils. In addition to this, I have £3,000,000 professional indemnity cover and £5,000,000 cover for public liability.
I have excellent, above average, pass rates and pride myself on always being honest with pupils about their readiness for test. If you are ready, I will not hold you back but if you aren't then I won't throw you at a test, just in case, as some instructors do.
If you have already passed I can offer Pass Plus courses, at a discount for my own learner drivers, and also provide refresher and motorway lessons for the more experienced driver who just needs some extra confidence.
For holders of overseas licences who are not used to driving on the left, I can give familiarisation lessons and have an in-car translator who can work with me who speaks fluent Portuguese, Spanish and French.
If you want to learn to drive and then take your test in as short a time as possible, then intensive courses are the answer. To book your course you will need to have passed your theory test and take a 2 hour assessment lesson. If you have not already passed your theory, then we can still get you started by taking individual lessons while preparing you for your theory test, then booking any remaining lessons required as a block running up to your driving test.
Discounts are always available for students, NHS and MOD workers and block bookings. In addition to this I often run promotions giving additional savings. At the moment, new pupils booking lessons can choose from 2 free hours instruction or the first 6 hours for £75.00. Any gift vouchers purchased qualify for a 10% discount.
I am happy to discuss your requirements, so please feel free to call me - see below.
