Southsea School of Dancing
Southsea, Hampshire
We continue to offer quality dance instruction in a disciplined, supportive environment where each pupil is encouraged to achieve their very best.
We have recently moved to Priory Sports Centre, a venue that offers purpose built facilities for dance - large studios, sprung floors, mirrored walls, fixed barres etc.
This, together with the teaching faculty mean that we can offer excellent opportunities to those interested in studying dance.
Our teachers are all qualified to a very high level, holding qualifications awarded by the ISTD & RAD.
Both organisations are renowned throughout the world for the excellence of its training systems and its quality of teacher training.
Collectively, our faculty has over 50yrs of teaching experience - so you can be sure of being safe in our hands!
In addition to our core subjects of Classical Ballet, Modern and Tap, we also offer workshops in other supplementary subjects.
We hold regular performances, primarily through our Theatre Group which gives our dancers aged 8 yrs + the chance to prepare and perform a full-length show.
We hold regular open classes so parents can appreciate progress and, when demand is sufficient, we offer open classes with new choreographers and dance groups.
Also popular is our weekly limbering class which challenges the dancers strength, flexibility, stamina and fitness!
We have a long tradition of achieving excellent examination results at all levels and in all disciplines.
We are one of a very few schools in the Portsmouth area that offers training up to Advanced 2 level in all genres (inc. Classical Ballet).
Many of our students go on to study at vocational schools and colleges and many are currently working professionally as dancers or teachers - visit the link above and view the gallery for more details.
Ultimately, if you are looking for a dance school that will give you or your child an excellent grounding in dance technique you should look no further.
We are experienced, proven and fun!
We look forward to hearing from you!
